Ban on Clothing

Posted 10/6/2011

International Human Rights Organization called on the parliaments of Muslim countries to vote against the proposed ban on clothing that does not allow identification in public places — including the traditional Muslim veil that covers the face. According to the organization, the adoption of such a law would violate civil rights by depriving women of opportunities to openly express their religious, cultural, and personal beliefs. In addition, the ban would make some women stay home, depriving them of opportunities to participate in public life.
